Cleveland, OH (January 30, 2016) –Weber Wood Medinger/CORFAC International (WWM) announced that Alan Wood, one of the founding principals of the firm, was recently inducted into the Midwest Hall of Fame by Midwest Real Estate News for the many accomplishments he has achieved in his career.
In 1968, Alan Wood, Jerry Medinger, and Bill Weber started Weber Wood Medinger in the Cleveland suburb of Shaker Heights as a real estate development company and industrial brokerage firm. For two decades, the company built over 700,000 square feet of suburban offices in eastern and southern communities near Cleveland, and also entitled and developed a 40-acre parcel in Beachwood that now has office buildings, hotels, and other commercial businesses.
The relationships that the partners developed over the years enabled the firm to evolve into and become one of the nation’s early providers of what is commonly called “Corporate Services” today. By the mid-1990s and by then headquartered in Beachwood, Weber Wood Medinger exclusively focused on brokerage services with an emphasis on tenant representation. As such, over the past 20 years Wood’s firm has participated in more than $1.4 billion in real estate transactions and corporate real estate deals in more than 500 North American markets.
Wood’s adult children, Denise Hahn and Blair Wood, are principals of Weber Wood Medinger.
In addition to corporate consulting and strategic planning, Alan Wood’s transaction activities include multi-state site selection, land assemblage acquisitions, build-to-suite development projects, sales/leasebacks, dispositions and lease negotiations for office, R&D and industrial properties.
Wood does not shy away from complex real estate transactions that take years to complete. In the last 10 years, Alan and Blair Wood have completed more than 50 sale/leaseback transactions valued in excess of $400 million for private equity firms. Earlier, Wood was the lead broker on selling more than 7,000 acres of land near Sparks, Nevada, on behalf of TRW, which had used the property for years as a rocket-testing facility. Also on behalf of TRW, Wood engineered the donation of its corporate headquarters in Cleveland to the Cleveland Clinic.
More recently, Wood has been involved in assembling a large land parcel (more than 600 acres) for an out-of-state manufacturing company that plans to build a new production plant. Wood has managed the acquisitions involving more than 50 owners in parcels ranging from 0.05 acres to about 70 acres.
Active in his profession, Wood belongs to CORFAC International and the Urban Land Institute. Before his partnership at Weber Wood Medinger, Wood spent seven years with several major brokerage houses in the Cleveland area.
